Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to have osteoporosis to join?

No, not at all.

In fact, the earlier you start looking after your bones, the better. It is much easier to maintain good bone density than to try to rebuild bone that has already been lost. That doesn’t mean improvement isn’t possible — it absolutely can be. But when it comes to bone health, prevention and early action are always worth thinking about. As the saying goes, “The time to repair the roof is when the sun is shining.”

Do I need to be strong or fit before I join?

Not at all!

That is exactly what the program is for. You don’t need to be strong, fit or experienced with weights before you start. Everyone starts from their own individual level, and we gradually build your strength, fitness, confidence and ability from there.

Can I exercise if I have arthritis?

Absolutely.

Having arthritis doesn’t mean you have to stop exercising. There is often a way to modify exercises around your individual needs. Everyone starts with an initial assessment, where we get to know you, your symptoms, your body and any other conditions you may have. This helps us make sure your exercises are safe, appropriate and still challenging you in the right way.

What if I have another health condition?

Most people don't come to us with just one condition. You might have osteoporosis or low bone density alongside arthritis, women's health concerns, scoliosis, Parkinson's, MS, an old injury or other aches and pains. This is one of the benefits of having a physiotherapist supervising your exercise. We look at you as a whole person, not just your bone density. Exercises can be modified around your individual needs so you can continue to exercise safely and keep getting stronger.

How often should I attend?

For the best results, we recommend attending twice a week.

Regular progressive strength training is important for building and maintaining strength and supporting bone health, so consistency really matters.

Do I need an initial assessment before joining?

Yes.

Everyone needs to complete an initial assessment before starting classes.

Your $180 initial assessment takes approximately 55 minutes and gives us the opportunity to get to know you properly. We’ll look at your function and balance, discuss your health, goals, pains and any other conditions, teach you the ONERO exercises and technique, establish your starting weights and work out any modifications you may need. Once this is completed, you’ll be ready to start your classes.

How far ahead can I book my classes?

You can book classes up to two weeks ahead.

Members who have consistently attended ONERO classes for 12 months or more may be offered the option of having a permanent regular class spot.

What happens if my class is full?

You can join the waitlist. If a place becomes available, you’ll be notified so you have the opportunity to take the spot.

What happens if I need to cancel my class?

We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice when cancelling a class, as our classes are small and places are limited.

You can cancel through the booking system or by emailing em@emjphysio.com.au. We understand that life happens. Once per calendar year, once-weekly members have one complimentary late cancellation, and twice-weekly members have two. After these have been used, a late cancellation or missed class is charged as a class from your pass. Genuine emergencies and unexpected circumstances are always considered with common sense and kindness
